Agility announced Digit 5 on September 15, describing a humanoid designed to operate closer to people. The company says its architecture combines human detection, signals that communicate intent, and independent safety control. These are manufacturer claims about a newly announced product.
Agility also reports a 22.7 kg lifting capacity, swappable tools and faster charging. It expects early access in the first half of 2027 and general availability by the end of 2027. The announcement draws on experience with the earlier Digit 4; the capabilities and deployment record of those two generations should remain separate.
Our view: the useful test is an ordinary shift in a real facility. Buyers should ask about recovery from dropped objects, blocked aisles, maintenance and the exact work envelope. Workers need clear ways to understand and interrupt robot behaviour. A promising specification starts a deployment conversation; it does not finish the operational assessment.
